About...
Sorbier was set up in 2005, by freelance Gaelic broadcaster Patsi Mackenzie, with the principal aim of producing high quality Gaelic language television, while developing and consolidating a presence in mainstream production.
With fluctuating personnel depending on genre, scale and budget, we work on a project to project basis. Our core team carry over twenty years’ broadcasting experience across all areas of production. As thoughtful producers of superbly crafted programmes, our philosophy is one of passion, care and creativity – with absolutely no compromise when it comes to our production values.
The advent of BBC ALBA in 2008 has seen us deliver a range of diverse productions for the Gaelic channel, from children’s animation to BAFTA nominated drama. We handpick the very best talent and technical skill for each of our commissions by turn, and firmly believe that it is by combining exceptional individual freelance abilities, that we maintain our reputation for excellence. We nurture each of our projects, regardless of scale, from proposal to delivery.
Sorbier prides itself in looking after all the people who work with us, and is especially proud to employ locally as far as possible.
